THE LOVELY soaring voice and fiddle of award-winning folk artist Jackie Oates can be enjoyed again in Broadwindsor just before Christmas.
Jackie – a past winner in the BBC Radio 2 folk awards – will bring friends with her to the Comrades Hall and will find many more there, including local musician Simon Emmerson (of The Imagined Village fame), a choir of Broadwindsor people who love singing with villager Maurice Yarham, and Symondsbury Mummers.
Between them, they will perform traditional folk songs and Christmas tunes, starting at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 18.
Jackie visited Broadwindsor this summer to play alongside John Jones from Oysterband in a sell-out concert that launched his Reluctant Ramblers tour across Dorset from Lyme Regis to Larmer Tree.
Tickets cost £5 and are available from 01308-868120 or 868532. Entry includes a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine.
Proceeds will go towards staging next year’s Broadwindsor Fun Day, which raises money for local causes.
