Tea and TV talk at Dorset County Museum

STORIES and tales from behind the scenes of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow will be told by one of the programme’s experts Paul Atterbury at Dorset County Museum on 12 November.

Mr Atterbury, who lives in Eype near Bridport, has been part of the Antiques Roadshow team for 14 years. He advises people on miscellaneous antiques and artefacts. He was also a regular presenter on The Great Antiques Hunt, The Antiques Show and BBC Radio Four’s Hidden Treasures.

An unusual feature of the evening will be vintage teas served in genuine old-fashioned bone-china cups provided by Vintage Dorset, an old-fashioned vintage china hire company.

Linda Screen of Vintage Dorset said: “We’re really looking forward to meeting such a highly esteemed ceramics expert.

“We love helping vintage events, so when the opportunity arose to work with Dorset County Museum and offer our vintage teas for Paul’s talk, we were delighted.

“Who knows, Mr Atterbury may tell us we’re serving tea from really rare and valuable crockery without even knowing it!”

Mr Atterbury has written and edited over thirty books, mostly on ceramics, but two have shown Eype and West Bay through old postcards.

Tickets for the event at the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester cost £5. Doors open at 7pm for refreshments; Mr Atterbury will start his talk at 7.30pm.
