hi i was wondering where the last name johnnie came from?

I am the grandaughter of an Onion Johnnie, I was born in Roscoff, my brother born in Barnhurst, Kent.
My husband and I now live in Brittany 29, half an hour from Roscoff.
I loved my grandparents, and had a very special relationship with them, I learnt how to string onions (haven’t done so for for 40 years) and still have family here, they also have Johnnies in the family. In fact, we had family around almost every corner of Roscoff, my grandfather’s photo is in the Maison des Johnnies.
For me my childhood was made wonderful because of my grandparents.
