Updated: Bridport Hat Festival photos

THE BRILLIANT portrait photographer George Wright, who’s worked internationally for many newspapers, magazines and book publishers, and who lives in Bridport, took pictures of Bridport Hat Festival – and very fine they are too.

Here’s a selection, courtesy of George Wright and the Bridport Hat Festival organising committee.

Guy Heathcote from Southampton got in touch this week to identify himself as the splendidly moustacheod man in the second photograph here. Mr Heathcote took third prize for his Imperial handlebar in the 2007 World Beard and Moustache Championships. Otherwise, he’s a researcher for the Ordnance Survey, specialising in 3D city modelling, and also a juggler.

Some names I still don’t know. If you do, please get in touch.

One note before we go any further – a crowd shot is too big to reproduce here in the necessary detail – but if you click on the words at this sentence you should be able to download a big photograph of the crowd gathered in Bucky Doo Square for Bridport Hat Festival

Lovely occasion. My daughter and I are the two ladies in the “bygone elegance” photo. I always wear clothes from the 40’s and 50’s, but she joined me for the day. It was great to be able to wear our Vintage hats without feeling out of place!!

Hi there, the lady in the daisy hat in picture four is Caroline McArdle of Cardiff wearing a headpiece by Catherine Povey Millinery. Thanks.
